Break-Time

Break-Time

When you consider hiring a Typical Wedding Band, be sure to explore their policy on breaks before making a final decision. Playing live music is hard work. It can be downright exhausting. But most Typical Wedding Bands have a solution for this predictable dilemma. The solution is called Break-Time. Imagine your dance floor is fully packed with friends and family members who are dancing to their hearts content when the band leader suddenly announces, "Ummm, folks, we're gonna take a break...we'll be back in about 15 minutes." Now what?

What happens next may vary depending on the band you are considering. They may take a break with no music playing for the next 15 minutes, and while nothing is happening, many of your guests may decide that it is time leave. They may throw on a background CD and just let it play unattended during their break. This option may also cause many of your guests to leave early. They may even have a DJ on site to play requests during their breaks, and depending on their DJ's skill level, this may keep the guests dancing or they may still start heading for the door.

Is taking a break the only option? Not if you hire a Great Wedding Band or a Wedding Entertainment Director™. A Great Wedding Band will bring along extra musicians so their band members can take individual breaks throughout your reception while the rest of the band play on. This solution keeps the energy going but, as you might expect, a Great Wedding Band will most likely cost much more than a Typical Wedding Band. A Wedding Entertainment Director™ will also keep the music going non-stop without ever taking a break because they play pre-recorded music and will also often work with an assistant.

If the Typical Wedding Band you are considering has a Break-Time policy that will impact the success of your reception in a negative way, maybe you might want to consider asking them to give you a break. Your reception is only gong to happen once. If they are not using one of the simple solutions outlined above, then allow us to suggest that you look instead for a Great Wedding Band or a Wedding Entertainment Director™.
